Thank you for visiting Ranch and TrailThis website is designed to promote the family sport of ATV Riding, specifically in the Paiute Utah area. We have information for ATV riding on the Paiute ATV Trail (ATV riding in Southern Utah), lodging, ATV Rentals and where to eat within the area. We also host a picture gallery of the fun. So take a look and plan your next ATV trip.
Quick facts about the trailThe Paiute ATV Trail system contains over 2000+ miles of legal ATV Trails! The main Paiute ATV Trail (Trail #01) is a 238 mile loop which would take approximately 25 hours to complete. The trail truly only passes through 3 towns (Circleville, Aurora and Koosharem), so it would be a wise decision to purchase a map and plan out some stops in some towns nearby the trail. Nothing would be more frightening then being out in the middle of nowhere without gas or food! There are 16 towns in the trail system that allow you to drive your ATV on designated public roads, this is for purpose of getting gas, food, lodging, parts/repairs and of course those who might need medical attention. Most of the citizens in these towns are extremely friendly since the trail is a large source of income for some of the small towns. If you get lost or confused about a trail's whereabouts don't be afraid to ask for directions, most of the people in these towns are familiar with the trails. If you purchase a map you will see there are lots of free areas for you to camp in, so you don't necessarily have to pay for lodging… but keep in mind this means you've got to rough it. For those of you who enjoy daily showers, running water, electricity and a nice bed to sleep in, there are plenty of options for lodging within the area (Just check out the lodging links on this site).
Season to rideMajority of the people who visit say September through October is the best time period for riding the trail. The trees are changing colors, the temperatures are moderate and the chance of rain is low. Being that the trail is in Utah, November through March is going to be mostly snowy and very cold. Most trails will be closed during this time of year. April through June is a great time for some of the lower elevations trails, but keep in mind the trails in the higher elevation will still probably have to much snow to pass through. During the month of August it can be extremely hot in the lower elevations, with a lot more mild temperatures in the high elevations. What ever time frame you choose to visit just keep in mind to be prepared, always bring cold weather clothes, especially if you're camping along the trail. The temperatures can be very cold during the evening and especially at night at 11,500 ft elevation (The highest point along the trail)! Please respect the area, we would like to have this trails for years and years to come. Common sense tips… Plan ahead and prepare, travel and camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find (do not take a piece of history with you), minimize campfire impacts, respect wild life and be considerate to other visitors.
